About Me

Image for About Me

I am honored and happy to serve the St. Augustine School community!
I grew up on the west coast, Seattle and Portland, and moved to Kalamazoo in 1986. My nationality is Latvian and my life has been tied to both the country of my nationality and my home country.
I am a graduate of St. Mary of the Valley High School in Beaverton, Oregon. I earned a BA in Psychology from Portland State Unversity, an MA in Early Childhood Education from Western Michigan University and an EdD in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.
For 10 years I directed the Kalamazoo Latvian Preschool and taught over 100 Latvian and non-Latvian children from the Kalamazoo area. I spent 3 years teaching Kindergarten at the International School of Latvia and then returned to Kalamazoo in 1999. I accepted a position teaching Kindergarten at St. Mary School in Kalamazoo and became teaching-principal there in 2001. Since 2004 I have worked with the faculty, staff, families and students of St. Augustine Cathedral School.
There is a lot of joy at St. Augustine Cathedral School. Christ is evident in our students, staff and families. We have the privilege of being Christ for one another each day. I am grateful for every person who chooses to be a part of our school family and blessed to spend my days among you!
In Christ,
Andra Zommers, Ed.D.
